Meal and Snack Tickets
The Hawkesbury & District General Hospital offers a meal or a snack to each volunteer who works 4 hours or more per shift. For 3 hours of volunteer work, you will receive a ticket for a snack. If the cost of the meal or snack is greater than the maximum value allowed, you must pay the difference.
Parking
You are exempt from parking charges while on duty at the hospital. Identification cards also used to access the parking lot are distributed and controlled by the HGH Human Resources Service. You must return your identification card to the Human Resources Service when you decide you no longer wish to volunteer your services at the hospital. Volunteers must park on the West or East side parking lot and enter the hospital building by the side door leading to the cafeteria.

Volunteers benefit from a general liability insurance while performing tasks assigned to them by the Volunteer Services.
Volunteers’ Office
This office is for the benefit of all the volunteers of the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital. For your convenience, you can use the closet and a locker. You can also read the latest developments on the bulletin boards, the policies and procedures manuals and the minutes of the Board of Directors of the “Friends” as well as look at numerous photo albums.
Access to Employee Health Service
The Health Nurse in charge of Employee Health Service can provide first aid care to volunteers. It is also possible for volunteers to be vaccinated against tetanus and diphtheria. It is strongly recommended that those who are in direct contact with patients take part in the annual detection program for tuberculosis (Mantoux Test). The flu shot is also available every year. This shot is mandatory and can also be taken at your family physician’s office. If, as per your family physician, you cannot get the flu shot, he/she will need to give you a note before you come in for your volunteer work.
